Founded in 1966 by Bud Porteous, in downtown Los Angeles, PFC has grown into the
largest privately held Importer / Master Distributor of fasteners in the United
States. Originally PFC imported product from Japan and bought “fill in orders”
from Domestic Manufacturers, packaging the product into Red Boxes and selling primarily
to the Wholesale Hardware Industry west of the Mississippi. In those early days,
PFC was able to compete with the industry giants because of the service we provided.
It was common for PFC to fill orders 98% complete within two days when the rest
of the industry could take a week or longer. We opened our second branch in San
Francisco in 1968 followed by Portland and Salt Lake City in 1974 and Seattle in
1975.

PFC acquired two companies in the 80’s, expanding into Texas and Georgia.
These acquisitions also transformed the company from a “re-packer” to
a bulk Master Distributor able to provide our customers with a variety of package
options.
Today, PFC is the only Master Distributor that provides both package (Red Box) and
bulk (1/4 Keg) from one convenient source.
PFC’s expansion during the 90’s was the result of opening new branches
in Chicago, Denver and Cleveland and again in 2000 when we opened a large distribution
center in New Jersey. From our modest beginning in 4000 square feet in downtown
Los Angeles, PFC now operates 17 distribution centers throughout the United States
and Canada. Throughout the years PFC has grown on our reputation of providing First
Class Service.Many of the relationships with our current distributor base were the result of
a face-to-face meeting and a handshake.

Today, PFC continues to be a leader in the Fastener Industry. Our network of Branches
and Distribution Centers are linked by a sophisticated computer system and VOIP
network. PFC’S logistics enables most orders to be delivered the next day
or product transferred from another location in a timely manner to fill the needs
of our distributors. We provide our customers with an array of products, packaging
and services to meet their needs and competitive pressures. Electronic ordering

all industry specifications. We still operate two A2LA accredited Labs
one in Carson and a second in Taiwan and visit our factories regularly to conduct
quality inspections.
